Timetables

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through all the timetables requests and gaps.  The guidance department continues to work through each student's requests.  All students will be contacted regarded their course change requests, either by e-mail or in person.  Students who have requested the switch a course must continue to attend that class for attendance purpose. We thank students and families for their patience and understanding.

PA Day September 26, 2025

Families are asked to review information about learning that school staff will be participating in on the upcoming secondary Professional Activity (PA) Day on September 26, 2025. As usual, students do not attend school on PA Days.

Lockers

Please remind your child that only school-issued locks can be used on school lockers, and for everyone's safety, it is important that lockers are locked at all times.  As such, students were reminded multiple times this week to visit their assigned locker by end of day Friday, September 12 to ensure there was a lock on their locker.  If there was a missing lock, students were asked to see Ms. Lee-Allard in the main office immediately so the issue could be addressed. Missing locks would be considered lost and a replacement lock would cost students $20.

Vape Detectors

All YRDSB schools have been outfitted with Vape Detectors in the washrooms.  Students are reminded that vaping is harmful and the effects can be irreversible.  Vaping on school property is a violation of the YRDSB Safe Schools Policy and Smoke Free Ontario Act. There are significant consequences for those found vaping on school property.

Parking

For those students who would like to request a UHS parking pass, please refer to UHS Parking Procedures that were sent to parents of students who are in Grade 11 and 12. There are limited spots available.

Happy Powley Day

Powley Day, celebrated every September 19, marks the date of a major 2003 Supreme Court of Canada decision about Métis rights. This day is important because the ruling officially recognized Métis as a distinct Indigenous people with their own rights, which helped pave the way for Métis self-government. It's important for everyone to recognize Powley Day because learning about this legal decision is a key step toward understanding our shared history and building a more just and respectful future for all Canadians.

Self-Identification

The York Region District School Board provides a voluntary process for our students with First Nation, Métis, and Inuit ancestry to self-identify so we can provide support and make our school a more inclusive and understanding place for everyone.

By self-identifying, you can get access to new opportunities, including culturally specific learning, additional academic and well-being support, and connections to community groups and post-secondary institutions. This information is confidential and also helps us create more learning opportunities for the entire school community to better understand Indigenous cultures and histories.

To learn more or to begin the self-identification process, please connect with Ms. J. Tang in the main office.
