Opportunities

Exchange Opportunities

ISE (International Student Exchanges) Ontario is the YRDSB-authorized organization that offers student exchange opportunities for our students.  There are 3-month, 2-month and summer exchanges to Europe available.  All the information and applications are available on the ISE website.

Official Languages Programs

The government subsidizes language programs for students 16 years or older that take place over the summer.  The EXPLORE program is designed for highschool students (grade 11 or 12) and takes place over 5 weeks during the summer.  See the website for more information.

DELF Tests (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française)

DELF testing may be available through the board (YRDSB) at some point in the future but for students who are interested in contesting the DELF at an appropriate level (e.g. A2, B1), they could consider options for DELF testing at L'Alliance française de Markham.

International Travel Tours

The FSL & International Languages department has been organizing educational tours with the YRDSB-approved educational tour company, EF Tours, for a number of years.  We have traditionally offered tours over the March break to European destinations where the languages that we teach at UHS are spoken (France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy).

We are exploring the possibility of planning a tour for the 2025-26 school year.
