Puppets for the Alchemy

The Visual Arts Department would love to collect newspapers (not glossy flyers) for creating a series of eight-foot-tall papier-mâché puppets for the Alchemy Flato Markham Theatre show, as well as clean, resealable food containers to be used as paint palettes. Thank you in advance.

The Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat (PCF) Math Contests will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Eligible Grades:

  • Pascal Contest: Grade 9
  • Cayley Contest: Grade 10
  • Fermat Contest: Grade 11

Registration:

  • Registration will be available through School Cash Online
  • Opens: Friday, January 30
  • Closes: Thursday, February 5

Contest Details:

  • Time: 8:35 a.m – 9:35 a.m
  • Duration: One hour
  • Location: Cafeteria

Pascal Cayley and Fermat Contests


 

Mr. De Paolis and the entire UHS robotics team of 3652A took part on January 31, 2026 in the iDESIGN Central Toronto V5RC Push Back Competition at St. Michael's College School.  This all-day event with students from UHS and other schools in the GTA demonstrated outstanding teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance. 

The UHS robotics team competed proudly and advanced to the Round of 16. This achievement reflects countless hours of preparation, testing, and commitment.

Congratulations to all team members and mentors on representing UHS with skill and professionalism. We’re proud of you—keep pushing boundaries! 🤖👏

Our next School Council Meeting will be held on Monday, February 23, at 7:00 PM in the Unionville HS Library.

Post Secondary Fair on March 25, 2026

Accessing Support in Post-Secondary: How Accessibility Services Help You Succeed

YRDSB and YCDSB will be hosting a Post Secondary Fair for Grades 9-12+ students, families, and staff to connect with Admissions, Recruitment, Accessibility, and Student Support Offices. There will be a special presentation, Accessing Support in Post-Secondary: How Accessibility Services Help You Succeed, by the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC) and information booths from the participating post secondary institutions.

York Region District School Board, Inclusive School and Community Services (ISCS) invites students, families, and staff to join us for an evening celebrating Chinese Heritage Month Celebration.

Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026

Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Bur Oak Secondary School (933 Bur Oak Ave, Markham, ON L6E 1G4)

This student-centred, community-focused event highlights the richness of Chinese culture and history, and the contributions of Chinese-Canadian communities. We welcome all students, staff and families to attend and participate.
